StatSheet's Big Ten Player of the Week for February 4th goes to Michigan's Trey Burke. StatSheet's Big Ten Freshman of the Week goes to Purdue's A.J. Hammons.

Burke led all of the Big Ten in assists (8.0 per game). He also had respectable numbers with 4.5 rebounds per game and 21.5 points per game. The Michigan sophomore played well in a win against Northwestern and a loss to Indiana.

Burke led the Wolverines in scoring with 18 points and added 8 assists in a big 68-46 win over Northwestern. He then led all scoring with 25 points and added 8 assists in an 81-73 loss to Indiana.

This is the second time this season that Trey Burke has been named StatSheet Big Ten Player of the Week. He has also come in second once and received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is junior Keith Appling from Michigan State. Honorable mention goes to our own Cody Zeller.

A.J. Hammons played an average of 29 minutes as a starter for Purdue. His averages in both scoring (24.5 pts per game) and blocked shots (3.0 per game) led all Big Ten freshmen. In a 97-60 loss to Indiana, Hammons topped the Boilermakers in scoring with 30 points and tossed in 5 blocked shots. Then in a 75-60 loss to Northwestern, he led all scoring and rebounding with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

This is a new honor for A.J. Hammons, the first time he has won StatSheet Big Ten Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Denzel Valentine from Michigan State. Mitch McGary from Michigan takes honorable mention. Kevin Ferrell, who finished 4th, was the highest ranking freshman for Indiana.
